Ye Olde Charlottetown

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island is, relatively speaking, an old city in Canada.

And there is a commendable impulse to try and preserve the cultural and architectural heritage of the city.

But sometimes this impulse means that we can get stuck in trying to make everything new seem old again, a syndrome I tend to refer to pejoratively as the ye olde effect, after the prefix that is often applied to such endeavours.
