I'll enhance the information on this page shortly, but I wanted to have a placeholder to provide some step-by-step information on how I've been creating screencasts for Plazes.

The toolchain I've been using is this:

  • Screen grabs with Snapz Pro X
  • Audio recording with Sound Studio 3
  • Screencast assembly with Keynote (an unexpectedly great tool for this)
  • Export from Keynote into QuickTime
  • Chop into individual chapters with QuickTime Pro
  • Conversion to Flash Video (FLV) format Flash Video Encoder
  • Screencast player is a custom Flash application that uses the Flash/Javascript Integration Kit to communicate with the web page that contains it.
