Prince Edward Island has an excellent province-wide library system, with branches in every corner of the province. There is a union catalog of the entire collection, and inter-library loan between branches is quick and easy.

The headquarters of the system is located in the rural community of Morell, the result of a move by the Callbeck government of the early 1990s to decentralize government services (the same move saw the health system move to Montague and the Provincial Sign Shop move to Tignish).
